Creating web pages using Microsoft Word:

 

  1. Create the Home Page
    1. This may be enough for some teachers
    2. Drawbacks: Adding to one page can get long, and hard to navigate
    3. Save all web pages in the same file on your computer or disk
    4. How to

                                                               i.      Create new sheet

                                                             ii.      Include name, etc.

                                                            iii.      To add links: 

1.      Highlight your text

2.      Right click on the text

3.      Click hyperlink

4.      Paste or type address in blank labeled address.

5.      You may want to click target frame, and then select new window

6.      Or, you could drag link from address bar in Explorer to the document

    1. Save page as index.html
    2. Upload to your server.
  1. Creating multiple pages
    1. Includes worksheets, schedules, project assignments, etc.
    2. Save page as web page
    3. Create a link from your home page

                                                               i.      Highlight text

                                                             ii.      Right click, select hyperlink

                                                            iii.      Browse to find your document, and click it.  

                                                           iv.      You may want to click target frame, and then select new window

    1. If you have the Internet at home, your ISP probably provides you with free space to create web pages
    2. Free sites include:

                                                               i.      Geocities.com

                                                             ii.      Angelfire.com or Tripod.com (both run by Lycos.com)
